I sent many, certainly too many times to start again to write. I apologize for that.

Nelle ore e giorni restanti correvo al mare per salire su una barca, al tempo non ne possedevo una.

È comprensibile che questa doppia vita non poteva andare avanti ancora per tanto e il 30 Gennaio 2009 ho firmato il contratto per Malenkaia, la barca protagonista di questa storia. La notte del 31, dopo 20 anni da fumatore, spengo l’ultima sigaretta delle 60 al giorno che fumavo.

Questi sono i primi passi di un progetto lungo 30 mesi che mi porterà a correre la transoceanica in solitario nel settembre del 2011, su una barca di 6.5 metri (Mini 6.50) priva di ogni confort, fatta per correre in ogni condizione di mare.

Il nome di questo progetto è “Bologna in Oceano”.

Il mese successivo vendo la macchina e compro un furgone usato, mezzo ideale per essere adibito a casa/officina/ripostiglio, ma non proprio a suo agio negli eventi mondani quali aperitivi, serate in discoteca e cene di gala.

last year, the project in Bologna Ocean has grown from an idea, a desire to become a reality of sailing:

• Over 4000 mileage

• Terminate 4 regate su 4 corse. Tutte regate qualificative del circuito Mini Internazionale (Italia e Francia)

• 2 quinti posti e un secondo.

• Secondo posto al Challenge le Grand 8

• Conseguimento della qualifica di 1000 miglia in solitario obbligatoria per la Transat

Inoltre, abbiamo avuto centinaia di contatti di persone interessate alla barca e al progetto. Abbiamo raggiunto tutti gli obbiettivi che ci eravamo prefissi a inizio stagione e soprattutto ho riportato la barca integra.

Ma il risultato più importante, non è quantificabile con numeri. Sono le parole e gli sguardi pieni di passione e amicizia che mi hanno accompagnato in questi mesi. Tra tutti voglio ancora ringraziare Marco Catania, responsabile del progetto e grande amico, che mi ha supportato e sopportato in tutti modi, senza lui la barca non sarebbe partita per nessuna regata.
